My render is making my house damp. Was quoted over £20k to re-render, so I thought I’d start myself. It’s cracked, non-breathable cement render on a 1930s house, trapping moisture in the walls and causing ongoing damp issues. Once the render was removed, it revealed coats upon coats of paint, which was removed by low pressure high heat but the base coat was something entirely different , my guess is it was some sort of tanking mix. Then I found this old lime building had been repointed with cement, and had cavity wool infill.
