McDonnell Douglas Phantom II FGR.2 XV424 at The Royal Air Force Museum London is an F-4M-35-MC. In the 1960s the UK placed an order for F-4Ks and F-4Ms to equip both the Fleet Air Arm and Royal Air Force, to become FG.1 and FGR.2s respectively. Requiring greater power to operate at sea from the RN's 'shorter' carriers, UK F-4Ks and F-4Ms were adapted to use the Rolls-Royce Spey in place of the original GE engines - a change that necessitated fuselage re-design, slightly reducing top speed throug
