The LNER Class P2 – Britain’s Mighty 2-8-2 Giants! 💨 Few locomotives have ever looked as powerful—or as purposeful—as the LNER Class P2. Designed by Sir Nigel Gresley in the 1930s, these incredible 2-8-2 “Mikado” locomotives were built to conquer one of the toughest main lines in Britain: the winding, steeply graded route between Edinburgh and Aberdeen. With their muscular frames, long boilers, and unmistakable front ends, the P2s were the largest and most powerful express passenger steam locom
